RETINA Roundup Editor in Chief
FujiRetina is Japan’s preeminent international retina meeting. Fuji refers to Mount Fuji, a stunning mountain that is a sacred and inspirational symbol of Japan’s natural beauty and cultural identity. The 3rd annual FujiRetina meeting took place in Tokyo from March 22nd to 24th, 2024, during the cherry blossom season. The conference is in collaboration with the Japanese VitreoRetinal Society, led by professor Taiji Sakamoto of Kagoshima University and professor Kazuaki Kadonosono of Yokohama City University.
The meeting organizers shared with us: “The primary objective of this meeting is to foster an exchange of thoughts and ideas pertaining to medical and surgical approaches to retinal diseases. Additionally, we aim to facilitate collaboration among attendees and cultivate enduring friendships within the field.
Our esteemed participants will predominantly comprise retina specialists from the Asia-Pacific region, alongside distinguished guest doctors from around the globe. We are privileged to host 28 international and 71 domestic retina specialists as speakers for this event.”
The meeting was a great success with hundreds of in-person participants and over 1000 registered attendees throughout the world joining virtually. We at RETINA Roundup had the privilege of working with young retina specialists in Japan to provide summaries of select medical and surgical sessions. Please read on for a taste of FujiRetina!
